What do I like about the Sedoretu? Well. I enjoy the fact that of how weird it is, at least to the minds of people in my society: It's polyamorous with tons of societal norms, its being married to somebody you're expected to stay platonic with, it's a world where "the one" is a silly concept. Not only that but it gives a fun framework to consider ships in. To think which characters would be what moieties cause that effects their dating pool. It also gives a fun oppertunity to worldbuild around the marriage system & its norms.
The Sedoretu helps me appriate how complicated relationships can be (especially in a world who likes to pretend that monogamy is not only the ideal, but often only option).

Yes ...
Date: 2026-01-09 01:57 am (UTC)It really is just a little more complex than some Terran cultures where each couple had another couple they would team up with for certain projects, sometimes live with, and/or serve as backup for each other's dependents in case of death.

I really enjoy these aspects too.

I like it for setting up relationships with new characters, because it provides a secure framework for different relationships.

So. Much. This.
